We invite community members to learn about historic oppression and systemic racism, allow members to share their lived experiences and learn from each other, and use knowledge for personal and community empowerment.

The Library Foundation SD and Silayan Filipina are proud to present the public reading of Closer to Liberation: Pin[a/x]y Activism in Theory and Practice. Amanda Solomon Amorao (Director, UCSD Asian American and Pacific Islander Studies Program) and DJ Kuttin Kandi (Executive Director, Asian Solidarity Collective) are co-editors of the anthology called Closer to Liberation: Pin[a/x]y Activism in Theory and Practice. They will read their chapters and invite the audience to engage in discussion about Pinay feminism, activisim, and coalition building.
